“Decimate”

The building
is destroyed.

Bricks
lie scattered.
Cracks
wind deep.
Scars
shine
on the sidewalk
for everyone to see.

2020 took
a bulldozer
to every
window,
door
and stair

and
tricked me
into
pulling out
my own bricks
hair by hair.

Now all
that’s left
is this
empty
forgotten
ruined
square.
